We hear from EK who is a Young Person who has now moved on from Young Futures and into his own permanent accommodation. He shares with us about three magic words which have had an impact on his life:

I remember when I came to London I was told three magic words that will help me achieve good things in life; Thank you, Please and Sorry. I thought it was strange at the time because in my old home town we rarely used them, but the advice stuck in my head.

Saying thank you is an act of gratitude, gratefulness and appreciation: all really important!

You should not only be thankful to those that you benefit from, but also everything else in your life as this also puts positive energy out in the universe. It’s almost like manifestations, the more thankful you are the more milestones you achieve!

Please is important because in life no one owes you anything.

When you ask for something always use please either at the beginning or the end of the sentence, this makes it clear that they are not under any obligation to do anything, even though if they are under obligation, it is a nice gesture and ethically correct to say please.

Sorry is just as important.

Whenever you know you have been irresponsible, ignorant, caused harm among other things. Sometimes saying sorry is all it takes but it is important to make sure that you take action to improve yourself and not repeat the same mistakes. Because then your sorry becomes void and you may not be given the second chance.  Only say sorry when it's sincere, and don’t overuse it, as this can be annoying to some.

Using the three magic words is shown to make us more positive, resilient and improves our relationships too.
